The concept of Kendo is to discipline the human character through the application of the principles of the Katana (sword).

The purpose of practicing Kendo is: To mold the mind and body,  To cultivate a vigorous spirit, And through correct and rigid training, To strive for improvement in the art of Kendo, To hold in esteem human courtesy and honor, To associate with others  with sincerity, And to forever pursue the cultivation of oneself.

This will make one be able:  To love his/her country and society, To contribute to the development of culture and to promote peace and prosperity among all peoples.

(The Concept of Kendo was established by All Japan Kendo Federation in 1975.)

Within the structure of the Matches the rules are simple:

Entry for the competition is strictly on an individual basis

There is no restriction on grades, age or sex competing i.e. Kyusha can fight Yudansha, male against female.

There will be 3 Referees plus recorder and timekeeper, in some instances we appreciate that it may not be possible to have experienced personnel, no matter this is a complete learning process - Shiai and Refereeing and Organisation… so this is a practical hands on experience and a learning curve

All refereeing results will stand.

The competing order will be published in advance with dates set.

Each fighter will compete a minimium of two matches on each day of the tournament of 3 minute bouts for 2 points.

Where there is a grade differential between fighters: certain points will be allowed for each such match as follows: Kyusha to any Dan grade - 1 point.

Matches will be recorded by two pointing systems:match results and by point scoring.

The Match results will be as follows:A win is worth 2 points, a draw is worth 1 point to both competitors.

By point Scoring: every point will be noted so in case of a tie the total points will be the deciding factor. So even if there is a draw of 1 -1, these competitors will move up the league table over who draws 0-0.

In case of personal commitments, a competitor my have his or her matches postponed to another date if and only ifthe MKF Technical Director recieves notification in writing from both competitors 5 days in advance of the scehduled match   1.justfy cause is presented

2. that both parties are in agreement that the match is to be postponed

3. that it does not happen more than once

If the competitor is not present then the match result will be scored as a win ( 2 points) with 0 points or 1 point subject to grade handicap.
